How to Make Partial Payments in Quickbooks

While QuickBooks has many features that can help you keep track of the bills you owe, it won't magically make money appear where there is none. However, when you're facing an economic hardship and can't pay the full balance of an outstanding bill, QuickBooks can easily adjust to help you make partial payments.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Pay Bills" icon on the Homepage at the opening screen. Alternatively, click the "Pay Bills" command from the Vendors menu at the top of the screen.

    • 2

Click to select the "Show all bills" option at the top of the Pay Bills window. Click the checkbox option next to the bill(s) that you will be making partial payments.

    • 3

Select the 0.00 amount in the Amount to Pay column and click the "Delete" button on your keyboard. Enter the partial payment amount. Double-check the payment date and payment method at the bottom of the window are showing the correct data and then click the "Pay Selected Bills" button to enter the payment. The remaining balance will show as the amount due when you return to the Pay Bills window.
