How to Disassemble a Hunter Fan
Disassembling a Hunter ceiling fan is not a difficult job and can be done in about an hour with a screwdriver. The Hunter ceiling fan is suspended from a hook on the ceiling plate and is balanced with the canopy. The electrical wires are connected with wire nuts that are easily removed by turning the nut to unwind the wires. You can save time and money by disassembling the ceiling fan yourself. Turn the breaker switch for the Hunter ceiling fan off at the breaker box before attempting to disassemble fan. Remove the light bulbs from the ceiling fan and take the glass shades off the fan by loosening the thumbscrews and removing the shades.

Loosen the screws that are securing the fan blade irons to the ceiling fan motor with a screwdriver and set the blades and irons out of the way.

Lift the fan motor off the ceiling fan hook and disconnect the electrical wires on the ceiling fan from the power supply wires by removing the wire nut connectors.

Unfasten the screws on the canopy trim ring with the screwdriver and lift the trim ring over the hanger ball. Remove the ring from the canopy and take the canopy off the top of the Hunter ceiling fan motor.

Remove the screws that are securing the ceiling plate to the ceiling with the screwdriver and set it aside.
