How to Get the Dust Out of Stuffed Animals

Stuffed animals are absorbent items that collect dust and dirt. To keep the stuffed animals looking their best, remove the dust safely without damaging the animals. This requires a delicate cleaning routine mild enough for the toys yet strong enough to remove dirt. Read care instructions to determine whether or not the stuffed animals are machine washable.

Things You'll Need

• Washing machine
• Laundry detergent
• Dryer
• Baking soda
• Vacuum cleaner
• Trash bag

Instructions

Machine Washable Items

1. Place the stuffed animals into the washing machine using a gentle wash cycle and cold water setting.

2. Pour in a capful of laundry detergent. When possible, use a mild detergent designed for use with delicate items to reduce wear and tear.

3. Let the wash cycle complete and dry the animals in the dryer or allow them to air dry.

Hand Cleaning

1. Sprinkle the stuffed animals with a dusting of baking soda and work the soda into the animals with your fingertips.

2. Place the stuffed animals in a trash bag and shake to thoroughly clean the items with the soda.

3. Remove the items from the bag and vacuum to collect lifted dirt and baking soda.
