How to Gain Corporate Sponsorship
Getting a corporate sponsorship for an event is not an easy feat. You must convince the corporation that you are a legitimate, responsible and well-managed organization. Add to that many other organizations have the same idea, so some corporations are bombarded with requests constantly. In most cases, a corporation will show preference for organizations that service the same community members who tend to patronize the business.

1
Research the corporation's community affairs initiatives and news history. Learn about past causes or events the corporation has sponsored before preparing your pitch. Pick corporations that have goals and a target market that align with yours.
-
2
Write a formal business letter soliciting a donation. Address it to the person in charge of community relations or corporate sponsorships. Introduce yourself, the organization, your cause and what you want to accomplish through the event. Identify the group of people this sponsored event will benefit. Provide information regarding past successful events the organization has thrown and the date of your upcoming event.

-
3
Ask the corporate representative to choose from your selection of sponsorships. List them briefly and clearly. For instance, you might offer a bronze, silver, gold and platinum package with a suggested donation for each.
-
4
Produce attractive sales materials regarding the cause. If you have a flier produced, enclose that and other materials with your letter. Print the letter on your organization's letterhead.
-
5
Send your sponsorship appeal kit directly to the corporate representative who handles these matters via express mail and request a signature.
-
6
Follow up with the contact at the corporation a few days after you have signature confirmation. Reiterate your organization's purpose and the event details. Answer any questions or concerns posed by the corporate contact.
