Create a warm and cozy fitted crib sheet from your favorite fleece fabric. The crib sheet is easy to make and you can customize it with decorative stitching around the edges or a hand-embroidered monogram. Make the custom crib sheet for your own baby or give the handmade sheet as a gift for a new mother at a baby shower and add the baby's due date or date of birth to one edge of the sheet for an even more personalized gift.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your fleece fabric on your work surface and draw a rectangle that measures 70 inches by 45 inches. Cut out the fleece rectangle and smooth it out on your work surface.

    • 2

Draw a 9-inch square on a piece of cardboard and cut out the square.

    • 3

Place the cardboard square on one corner of the fleece rectangle. Draw around the cardboard and cut out the square from the fleece. Repeat with each corner of the fleece.

    • 4

Bring the cut edges together at one corner and insert sewing pins. Sew a simple stitch to connect the edges and make the fitted corner for the crib. Sew two or three rows of stitches to reinforce the corner. Repeat with each of the corners to make a fitted corner for the crib sheet.

    • 5

Cut four pieces of elastic, each about 8 inches long. Pin one piece of elastic along the bottom of one of the new fitted corners. Stretch the elastic to span about 10 inches of the edge as you pin it in place. Sew the elastic to the crib sheet and remove the pins. The elastic will help to hold the crib sheet in place from the underside of the mattress.
