Enable the international roaming capabilities on your mobile phone to forward your calls while you're on a cruise ship.

Cruising the open seas can be scary for some and fascinating for others. It can also make passengers worrisome if they cannot get in touch with their loved ones back home on land. Unfortunately, most cruise ships do not provide their guests with in-room phones. However, you can still take your cell phone with you and have your calls forwarded to your phone by enabling the international roaming feature on your mobile phone.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact your wireless provider to add international roaming capabilities to your wireless plan.

    • 2

Provide the representative with the make and model of your mobile phone to verify your device is capable of roaming outside the country.

    • 3

Enable the international roaming feature on your wireless device. Press the "Menu" key on your phone. Navigate to the "Settings" options. Access your "Wireless Network" menu and select the "Roaming" option. Enable "Roaming On."

Tips & Warnings

  • Making calls internationally can cost between .40 cents to $2.50 a minute.

  • You will still be charged for an international call at international roaming call rates even if your caller only leaves a voice mail message.
