Instructions

    • 1

Plug in the glue gun and set it aside.

    • 2

Cut the ribbon into three 29-inch sections and three 24-inch sections. These will form the loops of the ribbon. Cut out one 36.5-inch length and one 43.5-inch length. These will form the tails of the ribbon that will hang down. Cut another piece of ribbon 7.25-inches long.

Smooth each length of wired ribbon after cutting the pieces.

The lengths don't have to be cut precisely to these lengths. Smaller sizes will result in smaller bows, larger sizes in larger bows. To estimate the size of the bow, fold the ribbon in half; this will be an approximation of the width of the bow.

    • 3

Lay a single piece of ribbon that will be used to form the loops on the work surface. Place a thin line of glue along one 2-inch edge of ribbon. Put the other end of ribbon on top of the glue and press down firmly to attach the two ends and form a loop.

Repeat this process on each of the six lengths of ribbon that will make up the loops.

    • 4

Fold three of the loops in half in order to locate the exact center of the loop. Lay three of the loops next to each other so that the long sides are adjacent to one another and the centers are lined up. Use a thumb and index finger to pinch the centers together. Wrap a twist tie around the three loops at the center and secure the loops together by twisting the ends of the tie closed.

Repeat this process on the three remaining loops.

Now there will be two sets of three loops each.

    • 5

Lay both lengths of the tail ribbons on top of each other. Fold the lengths of the ribbon into two equal halves along the 2-inch-wide direction.

    • 6

Wrap a twisty tie around the middle of the tails and around the two groups of looped bows.

    • 7

Pick up the 7.25-inch length of ribbon. Fold each short edge under the ribbon and apply glue to secure them in a folded position. Glue the center of this piece of ribbon to the back of the looped bow. Twist the ribbon closed in the back of the bow. The free ends will be used to secure the ribbon to a rail, wreath or any other surface.

    • 8

Spread each of the four tail sections so that they flare out from the bottom of the loops.

    • 9

Spread the loops out so that each loop is separated from the others. Position the loops into the shape desired. To make the bow appear fuller, put fingers inside each loop and spread the loops apart slowly.

    • 10

Cut the ends of the tails at a 45-degree angle to give the finished bow a polished look.

Tips & Warnings

  • The edges of wired ribbon are sharp. Use caution when working with these.

  • Use caution while the glue gun is heated.
