How to Play a Sound on a Windows Computer

You need a sound card and speakers, and Media Player or a Sound Editor to play sounds on your computer.

• Sound Recording And Editing Software

1. Locate the file that you want to play.

2. Double-click on the file to open it in the Media Player configured as the default.

3. Click Play and listen.

4. Go to the File menu and select Open to open and play a new file.

5. Locate the file that you want to play and open it.

6. Click Play.

Tips & Warnings

• Sound files usually end in extensions such as .wav, .snd, or .au.
• The Windows Media Player should be included with your Windows software; if you can't find it or don't have it, you can download it from Microsoft.
• You can use sound files to change your computer's warning beep, or you can play a sound as your computer starts up.
