How to Fix a Canon THM

Canon "THM" files are thumbnail files or sample digital picture files which represent larger pictures and images. These files have a ".thm" extension at the end of the file name. If your computer has been infected by a virus or other malware, it's possible that your Canon THM files could be corrupt, which means you won't be able to view the thumbnails properly. Fortunately, you can fix damaged THM files from the command prompt window using the administrator account on your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button, "All Programs" and then click "Accessories."

    • 2

Navigate to "Command Prompt" and right-click it. Select "Run as Administrator." The command prompt window opens.

    • 3

Type "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) into the command prompt window and press "Enter." This will locate and fix your Canon THM files.

    • 4

Type "Exit" to close the command prompt window. Restart the computer to apply your changes.
