How to Play Music on TeamSpeak 2

When getting ready for a raid or just hanging out with your gaming buddies, sometimes it's fun to have a playlist to provide background music. If your guild uses TeamSpeak 2, the easiest way to get a song to play within the channel is to configure your TeamSpeak client to transmit your computer sounds, rather than the sounds being fed into your microphone. The one drawback to this method is that while the music is playing, you will not be able to speak into your mic. If you have a spare computer, set up a separate installation of TeamSpeak solely for playing music. This will enable you to talk normally on your regular TeamSpeak installation while still listening to your playlist.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the "Settings" menu within your TeamSpeak client. Select "Options" from the drop-down menu.

    • 2

Select your computer sound from the "Input Device" menu. This option is typically named "Stereo Mix," though it may have another name, depending on your sound drivers. You can safely eliminate your microphone and the "Primary Sound Capture Driver" listing. Once your computer sound is selected, click "OK."

    • 3

Launch your preferred media player. When you play music, TeamSpeak will pick up the sound and transmit it to everybody else in the channel. You may need to alter the volume settings within your media player to ensure that your listeners can hear the music properly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Turn off your system sounds. Any sound on your computer will be transmitted to TeamSpeak, and hearing error alerts or menu clicks can be annoying to other listeners.
