How to Make a Live Bee Trap
Bees can be a problem at various times of the year, especially when you are trying to eat outside. For the most part, honey bees will not bother you if you don't bother them; yellow jackets and wasps are typically the types of insects that pester and sting. To keep these pests away from you and your family, you can create your own live traps. Does this Spark an idea?

Soda Bottle Trap
-
1
Empty the soda bottle, but reserve the soda for later. You do not need to clean the bottle before making the trap.
-
2
Cut off the top 1/3 of the bottle with a razor blade or utility knife. Save both portions of the bottle.
-
-
3
Pour some of the soda back into the bottom portion of the soda bottle. You do not need to fill it all the way.
-
4
Remove the cover from the top portion, and place the top portion upside down into the bottom portion of the bottle.
-
5
Swirl the bottle around to coat the inside with the soda. This action helps attract the insects.
-
6
Place it out in the open, but away from where you and your family spend your time. The bees and wasps will fly into the bottle and be unable to get out. Many of them will drown in the soda.
Bucket Trap
-
7
Place a bucket in an open location away from areas in which you spend your time outdoors.
-
8
Fill the bucket with soapy water about 1-to-two-inches deep.
-
9
Tie a piece of meat onto a string and suspend it from the bucket handle so it hangs about two inches above the soapy water. Wasps are attracted to protein. A wasp will eat the meat and then fly down into the soapy water, where it will drown.

Tips & Warnings
Some companies sell adapters to use in a soda bottle instead of cutting the bottle in two.
