How to Fix an Acer Aspire Battery That Does Not Last Long
If your Acer Aspire battery no longer lasts as long as it used to, there are methods available for fixing the problem. Limited battery life may be caused by dirty battery connectors, or you may be using impractical Windows power settings for your Acer laptop. If basic maintenance does not fix the battery life, then it may be time to take in the laptop for service.
Instructions
-
Clean Battery
-
1
Turn off your Acer laptop and unplug it.
-
2
Turn the laptop over and take out the battery. Slide the small lock tab on the bottom to remove it.
-
-
3
Dip a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol.
-
4
Rub the cotton swab in concentric circles, wiping away dirt and grime from the battery's metallic connectors.
-
5
Blow compressed air into the battery compartment, and over the metal connectors. This removes dust and debris, and it also dries the alcohol.
-
6
Reinsert the battery and turn on your computer.
Adjust Settings
-
7
Click on the Windows "Start" button.
-
8
Click on the "Control Panel," then select "System and Security."
-
9
Click "Power Options." A screen opens with your current power plan selection.
-
10
Click on the "Power Saver" box from the list of options. The change is immediate, and you do not need to confirm the new settings. Close the window. Your screen will be dimmer when the laptop is unplugged to save energy.

Tips & Warnings
If you are still having issues, you may need a new battery, or there may be hardware problems.
When watch streaming video files on your Aspire, look for a "low resolution" option on the screen. This option, available in some video players, conserves battery life compared to high-resolution playback.
