How to Fix the Loud Snap on a Sun Visor
Car sun visors are a wonderful invention, especially if you're stuck in gridlock, with the sun is pounding down through the front windshield. Visors are installed on a vehicle as a safety hazard to keep the sun out of driver's eyes. Sun visors are are comprised of basically three pieces - the visor itself, the visor arm and swivel mount, and the visor clip. Sometimes the sun visor can make a loud snap when it is either swiveled back and forth to be adjusted or when it is set into the visor clip.

1
Determine where the snap is coming from. To do this simply move the visor from side to side to tell if it is coming from the swivel mount. Then set the non-swivel side of the visor into the visor clip to see if that is where the loud snap is coming from.
-
2
Use a screwdriver to bend the visor clip. The visor clip is mounted on the ceiling opposite from the swivel base. Be careful when bending this clip down so it does not break or crack.

3
Place a small amount of bearing grease, or even vaseline, on the end of a paper towel. First lubricate the end of the clip itself and then apply a small amount of the lubricant to the exposed metal of the visor arm.
-
4
Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the visor's swivel base into place and set the screws aside.
-
5
Apply a small amount of lubricant to the swivel ball assembly inside the swivel base of the visor. Work the arm around slightly after lubricating until it makes no noise at all.
-
6
Re-mount the visor back in place, hand thread the retaining screws and then tighten them with a screwdriver.
