How to Launch the Rocket in "Pokemon Emerald"
In "Pokemon Emerald," you'll take control of a young Pokemon trainer who is trying to become a champion and stop the evil schemes of Team Magma. In Mossdeep City, you'll find a space center with a rocket on the launchpad that will come under attack. While many have speculated that the rocket can be taken into space, the rocket does not launch during the game. It does, however, need to be protected from Team Magma.

Defeat the leaders of the Mossdeep Gym to earn the Mind Badge. The Mossdeep Gym focuses on Psychic-type Pokemon, so bring Dark- or Bug-type Pokemon to counter. The gym leaders will fight as a tag team; they need to be defeated four times before they will give you the Mind Badge. Team Magma will attack the Mossdeep Space Center after you've earned the Mind Badge.

Go to the Mossdeep Space Center and fight through the first floor. The first floor has several Magma Grunts you will have to battle through. Grunts will mostly use Dark or Poison types, so arrange your team accordingly.

Meet with Steven Stone on the second floor of the space center and fight with him to defeat the Team Magma leaders. This is a tag-team match, so you'll fight alongside Steven in the battle. Team Magma will use Dark, Fire and Poison types against you. When they are defeated, you will have saved the Mossdeep Space Center and the rocket.

Tips & Warnings
There are widespread rumors that the rocket can launch with you on board, which will take you to space to catch certain legendary Pokemon. These rumors are false. The rocket can not be launched.
The rocket scientist in the space center will tell you how many successful mission launches they have had. The number corresponds to how many weeks you have been playing the game.
