How to Make a Princess Wand With a Glow Stick

How to Make a Princess Wand With a Glow Stick thumbnail
Make a young girl a magic wand to coordinate with her princess costume.

Transform a simple glow stick into an enchanted princess wand for a Halloween costume accessory or for hours of pretend play for your own little princess. Decorate the wand with different colored ribbons to coordinate with the costume or dress-up wear, and top the wand with a large satin ribbon bow. Embellish the wand even more with a coating of glittery sparkles. Use the wand-making activity as a princess party activity and have the party participants decorate their own glow sticks for party favors.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the glow stick on your work surface. Cut a long piece of 1/4-inch-wide ribbon. Make the ribbon about three times the length of the glow stick.

    • 2

Spread a layer of craft glue on one side of the ribbon. Start at the top of the glow stick and wrap the ribbon around the stick. Let the excess ribbon dangle off the bottom of the glow stick for now.

    • 3

Cut another piece of ribbon in the same color or a different color to the same length.

    • 4

Spread some glue along one side of the ribbon and wrap it around the glow stick, beginning at the top again and working downward in the opposite direction.

    • 5

Tie the ribbons at the bottom of the glow stick in a bow.

    • 6

Cut a 10-inch-long piece of 1-inch-wide ribbon. Fold the ribbon in half and apply a little bit of glue to the fold line.

    • 7

Tie the ribbon in a knot around the top of the glow stick, and then tie the ribbon ends in a bow.

    • 8

Spread a little bit of glue on the ribbons on the glow stick and sprinkle glitter over the glue. Tap off any excess glitter.
