1
Marbles and a little paint will turn the background of each invitation into original art. Place a 6-inch square of cardstock into the box. Drizzle a small amount of paint on top. Place the marbles inside and rotate the box so that the marbles roll through the paint and create splash-like patterns on the card stock. Repeat for each invitation. Set aside cardstock and allow to dry thoroughly.

2
Punch two parallel holes a 1/2 inch from the top and a 1/2 inch apart on each square of patterned cardstock. Loop a length of ribbon through the holes. Tie securely in a bow at the front of the invitation.

Write or print out your party details on white paper. Include the phrase "Splish Splash in the Summer Sun" at the top followed by the date, time, location and R.S.V.P. details. Size the printing to fit into 2-inch squares and print enough copies for all your guests.

Trim the printed paper into 2-inch squares. Center each square onto a square of the patterned cardstock and glue. Allow to dry thoroughly before gluing the patterned cardstock onto the blue marbled background.

5
Print directions for a favorite summer drink, dish, or activity onto the business card template paper. For example, include directions for making a wave bottle using mineral oil, water, and food coloring. Separate the activity/recipe cards along the perforated margins. Place the party invites into square envelopes, and tuck in an activity/recipe card. Before mailing, embellish the front of the envelope with a scrapbook sticker.

Tips & Warnings
If you are able to hand deliver the invitations, you can add extra customization. For example, use glue to write your guests' names on the front of the envelopes and then sprinkle with colored sand. Or, attach your invitation to a homemade wave in a bottle.
For larger parties, save time and money by creating an electronic invitation, or create one handmade invitation, scan, and send via e-mail to your guests.
Adding paint or glue to cardstock can sometimes cause it to buckle. Once dried, press your invitations in between several large, heavy books to flatten.
Raised embellishments, such as stickers and ribbons, can sometimes become damaged in the mail. Hand deliver your invitations if possible.
