1
Position the piece of salmon around frozen or refrigerated items in your grocery bag when you're taking it home from the store. This will keep the fish at a lower temperature while it sits in an otherwise warm environment. Try not to make any pit stops after buying the fish to ensure it remains at a low temperature.

2
Remove the salmon from its wrapper and discard the wrapper. If the fish is vacuum-sealed, leave it in its original wrapper and continue to Step 5.

-
3
Rinse the fish thoroughly under cold running water. Pat it dry with paper towels.
-
4
Wrap the salmon tightly with two layers of plastic wrap.
-
5
Place the wrapped fish in the back of the refrigerator. The back of the refrigerator is the coldest and experiences the least fluctuation in temperature.
-
