Connect a powered mixer to an amp with stereo audio cables.

A powered mixer contains built-in amplifiers to boost the signal from stereo components and musical instruments so a pre-amp is not needed to drive the equipment. When connected, the mixer can then be used to shape the sound qualities of the various audio components. A powered amplifier supplies the energy to drive speakers. Connecting the mixer to the amp requires a standard set of stereo audio cables so the processed signal from the mixer can be played through the speakers connected to the amplifier.
