Instructions

1
Wash the empty Pepperidge Farm Pirouette cookie cans.
-
2
Decorate the exterior of the can with spray paint and stencils if desired. Many cans come with attractive designs already on them, but unique one-of-a-kind planters can be created with a little spray paint and stencils.
-
-
3
Punch holes in the bottom of the can with the hammer and large nail. Three to five holes should be sufficient depending upon the size of your metal can. Holes should be placed approximately 2 inches apart from one another.
-
4
Fill the bottom of the cans with a layer of pebbles. The pebbles will allow for excess water to easily drain out of the soil.
-
5
Fill the cans with planting soil. Transplant your seedlings into the metal can planters or plant your seeds as directed in the soil.
-
6
Water the newly transplanted seedlings or seeds. If keeping the metal can planters inside, keep in mind that some water will leak out of the bottom of the cans. Place a dish or saucer underneath the can to catch the water if displaying them indoors.
