How to Counter Harassment in 'Team Fortress 2'

In Valve's "Team Fortress 2," players pick from nine classes to wage territorial and capture-the-flag style battles. From Scouts to Snipers, every class has a weakness. If a player constantly kills you at the spawn point, report him to the game's host. However, most players understand the rules of each server since a code of conduct displays at the beginning of every game. The most common type of harassment occurs when a player goes on a killing spree, annihilating your entire team and taking a control point in the process. Strategies to counter harassment mostly involve knowing the weapons and fighting styles of your opponents as well as your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Change your weapon according to the attacker's method. If constantly taking damage from a Demoman's sticky bombs, blast the area with your Soldier's Rocket Launcher or a Pyro's Degreaser.

    • 2

Burn backstabbing spies as a Pyro. Fire burns through the Spy's invisibility cloak and masking technique. If you keep seeing the same Engineer sapping his own equipment, change to Pyro and blast your own party members to sniff out the masked attacker.

    • 3

Charge into an attacker's hideaway hole. Snipers and Demoman like to hide behind corners and high look-out positions. To get close without being detected, change to Spy and cloak, then backstab once close to the attacker.

    • 4

Pick a fast class such as a Scout to get around slow-moving attackers such as a Heavy or Soldier. Use your baseball bat and jump on top of attackers, then swing to hit your opponent's head and make him dizzy. Once he starts wandering around dazed, kill him with your Scattergun.

    • 5

Fight close-quarter attackers such as Pyros and Scouts with a long-range weapon and class. For example, the Pyro's weapons all require close-range combat to burn victims. A Soldier with a Rocket Launcher or Demoman's Grenade Launcher shoot long-range targets with ease and disrupt a fiery path of a Pyro. Soldiers with a faster weapon such as Direct Hit also kill fast-moving targets such as Scouts in close combat.

    • 6

Chase down Soldiers with a melee weapon. Soldiers are used to long-range combat, so if you come in swinging close, you catch the player off guard. Soldiers also have to reload frequently, so catch the player when his ammunition is out to get a good hit.
