1
Punch a hole toward the top of the decorative snowflake. Position the hole far enough down so that the material between it and the top edge remains sturdy.
-
2
Cut a piece of yarn or thread as long as the distance you want your snowflake to hang. Add half an inch to provide length for tying.
-
-
3
Loop the thread through the hole you already punched in the snowflake. Tie the thread so that the snowflake doesn't fall off.
-
4
Attach the loose end of the thread to an ornament hook if you plan on hanging the snowflake from a tree. If this is your plan, the snowflake is now ready to hang.
-
5
Use a thumbtack if you want to hang the snowflake from the ceiling. Hold the loose end of the thread to the ceiling, and pierce the thread with the tack. If the thread isn't thick enough to do this, put the tack halfway into the ceiling, wrap the thread around the thinnest part, and then push the tack the rest of the way in.
-
6
Tie the loose end of the string around banisters or other objects without using a tack or ornament hook.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't want to use a hole punch, you can use transparent tape to attach the yarn or thread to the back of the ornament.
