Give your thumbs a break by making phone calls seem like a more attractive option for your boyfriend.

Men and women often communicate in different ways. Many women prefer having long phone conversations with their boyfriends, especially if they are dating long-distance. Many men are not big on talking on the phone and might prefer to send text messages. If talking on the phone makes you feel closer to your boyfriend and it is important to you, let your boyfriend know how you feel.

Instructions

    • 1

Tell your boyfriend you would prefer a phone call every now and then rather than so many text messages. Honestly explain why you would like for him to call you. For example, tell him a phone call might make you feel closer to him, or like you matter enough for him to take a few minutes out of his day to call. Do not chastise him or fuss at him. Simply tell him where you are coming from.

    • 2

Compromise with him. Do not tell him he needs to call you every single time he wants to talk to you or ask you a question. That can seem unreasonable and simply might not work with his busy schedule. Present the phone call as just one of the options available.

    • 3

Encourage him to make more calls by sounding pleased to hear from him when he does call. Rather than picking up the phone and asking why he hasn't called sooner or needling him that you are shocked he finally called, be genuine and simply tell him you are glad to be talking to him on the phone.

Keep your calls brief. Many men don't like to talk on the phone because they feel they have to engage in long, rambling conversations. Don't spend 20 minutes talking about a shopping trip. Instead, get to the point, let him talk as well and try to keep the conversation on the shorter side. When he says he needs to go, let him go. Whining and trying to keep him on the phone will likely leave him with a negative memory of the phone call.
