How to Make a Decorative Kissing Ball From Clementines
A kissing ball, also known as a pomander, is an old-fashioned wedding tradition. Use a kissing ball as a decoration for your wedding or carry one instead of a traditional bouquet. Some pomanders have a center made of Styrofoam, while others use apples or potatoes. Use a clementine orange for a miniature pomander or kissing ball at your wedding.

Instructions

1
Cut several small flower blossoms so that their stems are approximately 2 inches long each.
-
2
Cut a length of floral wire 8 inches long. Bend it in half and twist the bent portion to make a small spike, approximately 1/2 inch into the wire. Wrap the ends of the wire around one of your flower blossoms, keeping the spike at the base of the stem as an extension of the flower stem.

3
Repeat Step 2 with the remaining flower blossoms.
-
4
Poke one flower blossom at a time into the skin of the clementine orange. Use the spike of floral wire to help you break the skin, and arrange the flowers so that their edges touch or even overlap slightly.

5
Cut a length of satin ribbon 15 inches long. Fold the ribbon in half and tie a bow in the ends, leaving the looped portion beneath the bow approximately 6 inches long. Use a floral pin to poke through the center of the bow and attach it to the top of the kissing ball so you can carry it by the loop.

Tips & Warnings
Choose flowers that are small, such as rose buds, daisies and violets. Pick flowers that match your wedding decor or that you will use in other floral arrangements.
If the flowers seem like they are not sturdy inside the clementine, use glue to keep them in place.
The oranges will eventually rot, so don't make these too far in advance of the wedding.
