How to Make Trout Lures
Trout are native to freshwater lakes and rivers in North America, Europe and northern Asia. In the 1800s, trout were introduced to Australia and New Zealand. Trout prefer cool water. There are several species of trout, including rainbow trout and brown trout. Trout are related to salmon and are classified as an oily fish, rich in vitamins A and D and omega-3 fatty acids.

1
Use the pliers to bend the bottle cap into the shape of a taco shell.

Place the sinker in inside the bottle cap and use the pliers to fold the cap around the sinker. Leave enough room around the sinker for it to rattle around in the folded bottle cap.

Hold the cap firmly using the pliers or vise. Drill two holes in the bottle cap, one at each folded corner, 1/8 inch from the edge.

Thread the metal wire through one of the holes in the bottle cap. Use it to tie the hook on to the lure.

Tips & Warnings
Depending on the size of sinkers you use, two or more make more rattling sound than one single sinker.
These lures are easy to make and inexpensive, making them a good choice for fishing in waters with lots of weeds, rocks and other snags.
This lure works as a jig, spinner or when you're trolling. Just vary the motion you use to entice the trout.
