How to Make a Rehearsal Bouquet out of Bows

Creating a rehearsal dinner bouquet out of the bows from the bridal shower is an old tradition that adds a playful touch. By saving the ribbons and bows from gift wrapping, a crafty bridesmaid can create the bouquet at the bridal shower so that the bride can carry it at the wedding rehearsal. This allows the bride to get the hang off carrying the bouquet, and it adds a decorative, lighthearted accessory to the rehearsal.

Collect all of the bows and ribbons from the bride-to-be as she is opening her presents at the bridal shower. Collecting as you go will make it easier, as you can create the bouquet as she is opening her gifts.

Use a paper plate from the party as your base. Punch a hole through the middle of the plate with a pair of scissors. The hole will be used to string the ribbons and bows through.

    • 3

Start adding the bows to the plate by either stringing them through the hole, if they are made of ribbon, or by placing the sticky side of them onto the top of the plate. The more of an assortment of bows you have, the better.

    • 4

Tie the loose ends of all the ribbons together on the back side of the plate in a large knot so that they do not slip through the hole in the plate. If any of the bows are made of curly ribbon, place these around the perimeter of the bouquet to add a bit more flair.

    • 5

Secure the knot with a piece of tape. The tape will ensure the knot does not slip through the hole. Also, tape bows that have a sticky bottom to the plate to secure them. Sometimes the adhesive on a bow won't adhere and securing it with tape will keep it in place.

Tips & Warnings

  • If using a lot of ribbons to create the bow bouquet, try curling the ends of some with scissors. This will add a bit to the design of the bouquet.

  • The more bows, the better. While the bouquet should be a good practice tool, it should also be fun.

  • Don't initially cut a very large hole in the plate. Start with a smaller hole and if you need to push more ribbon through, adjust the hole. Creating it too large at first could cause the bows and ribbons to droop or fall through.
