Displaying information such as your hometown to everyone in the Facebook community helps people who search for you determine if they have found the right person. When you change the privacy settings for your hometown information, the new privacy setting takes effect immediately. No one on your friends list is ever notified about your privacy setting alterations.

      Click the white "Account" link in the top right corner of any Facebook screen and choose Privacy Settings from the menu.

      Click the "View Settings" link in the Connecting on Facebook group, at the top of the Privacy Settings screen.

      Click the rectangular gray icon in the See Your Current City and Hometown section---the icon displays your current privacy settings. Select Everyone from the drop-down menu that is exposed.
