Instructions

    • 1

Wash the shells you want to paint, removing any dirt, sand or debris if they have come straight from the beach. Dry completely with a towel, making sure any cracks and crevices are clean. Lay down newspaper outside or in a garage to protect surfaces in your home from the paint.

    • 2

Lay the shells on the newspaper and spray them on one side with a coat of primer. Allow the primer to dry for an hour, flip the shells over and spray the other side. Allow them to dry for another hour then test them to make sure they are completely dry.

    • 3

Coat the shells with the brass spray paint evenly and generously. Use short, even strokes to keep the paint from dripping. Wait an hour or more for the paint to dry completely, flip the shells over and paint the remaining side.

    • 4

Check to make sure the shells are completely dry, then spray them with a coat of clear acrylic spray sealant. This will seal the color on the shells and help prevent scratches or fading. Wait an hour or more for the finish to dry. They are now ready for your crafting needs.

Tips & Warnings

  • Place a fan on low in front of the shells for faster drying.

  • Follow the manufacturer's directions on the spray paint.

  • Avoid painting in humid or rainy weather.
