Keep your old friendship bracelet and make a pair of beaded earrings.

Make a pair of beaded tasseled earrings out of the halves of a broken friendship bracelet, instead of just throwing it away. If a colorful string bracelet that you like breaks, there are different ways you can reuse the pieces to make something new, but one of the easiest ways is to attach them to earring hooks. Follow a specific procedure to add colorful beads and use supplies like epoxy adhesive to help them last longer.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a friendship bracelet in half or save the broken pieces of one if it breaks. Measure the pieces to the same length and make sure you have at least 1 1/2 inches of extra loose string on either side of the two pieces.

    • 2

Divide the strings on one end of one of the pieces in half and tie the four middle strings to the bottom loop of an earring hook. Tie two or three tight overhand knots. Tie overhand knots in the surrounding loose strings to keep them from unraveling, and trim the excess length from the ends. Dab epoxy adhesive on the knots. Repeat this process on the other earring.

    • 3

Feed the loose ends of string on the other end through the holes of small, round "E" beads and slide them up to the end of the bracelet. Leave about 3/4-inch at the ends to tie two tight overhand knots against the last bead. Trim the extra length and dab epoxy adhesive on the knots. Repeat on the other earring.
