Instructions

    • 1

Cut, according to your pattern, the two pieces that will form either side of your twist-top bodice. Every twist-top shirt or dress will divide this bodice into two sections.

    • 2

Fold one side of the bodice down and sew it so that it leaves what appears to be an arm-hole-size opening. Sew entirely down the straight portion of this circular opening once you have folded the fabric, leaving only this circular hole unsewn. It will look as though you have sewn a slightly askew dart into the bust of that side of the dress.

    • 3

Taking the other half of the bodice, scrunch the bottom portion -- which is the larger square of fabric -- into a compact tube that will fit through the circular hole in the other half of the bodice.

    • 4

Flatten the fabric so that it lies flat, with the exception of the twisted area in the front. Now you can sew the center-front seam, securing the twisted portion of the dress or shirt in place.
