How to Download Garmin Maps to an SD Drive 2011
Garmin GPS units come with maps pre-installed on the SD card, but you can add more maps to this card using the Garmin MapSource software. The maps are loaded on to the SD card through this software, and you can insert the card into a compatible Garmin GPS to use the new maps.

Open MapSource.

Choose the new map from the drop-down in the upper left side of MapSource.

Zoom out if you want the entire map loaded or zoom in to select a specific portion of the map. Click "Map Tool" and select the area you wish to use.

Insert the SD card into your computer. Select the button labeled "Send to Device."

Choose the SD card from the drop-down menu. Click "Send" to download the map to the SD card.
