How to Bake Baked Potatotes in a Slow Cooker
A slow cooker is the sous-chef for a home cook. While traditionally used to heat stews, soups and queso, your slow cooker can also serve as a miniature oven to prepare baked potatoes. Baking potatoes in a slow cooker is a lengthy process, but the device does all the work while you go about your day. Prepare potatoes for cooking at night, start the cooking process before you head to work the next day and delicious baked potatoes will be ready by dinner time. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Baking potatoes
- Fork
- Aluminum foil
- Slow cooker
- Knife
- Bowl
- Potato masher
- Sour cream
- Milk
- Butter, softened
- Green onions, thinly sliced
- Bacon, crumbled
- Shredded cheese

Wash potatoes and allow them to dry thoroughly.

Puncture each potato several times with a fork. Wrap each in aluminum foil and place them inside the slow cooker. Cover and set the temperature to low, and cook for 10 hours. Alternatively, you can cook it on high for six hours.

To make twice-baked potatoes, remove the cooked potatoes from the slow cooker and unwrap. Cut each lengthwise and scrape out the insides into a bowl. Mash potato insides with sour cream, milk, butter, green onions and bacon to taste.

Place the potato mixture inside the skins and top with cheese. Set the slow cooker to low and cover, leaving it slightly open for ventilation. Cook for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.
