1
Decide which product you will sell. Find out how much each baby product, called a unit, will cost to produce. Find out how much time it takes to produce each unit that will be sold. Use this information to develop a sales price for each baby product that will be sold. The sales price must be high enough to compensate you for the time spent creating the baby product as well as to cover the cost to produce the product.
-
2
Research the market for the baby product you will sell. If the baby product will be sold on the Internet, perform a search on the Internet for similar products to find out how much the product usually sells for. Compare this price to the price that the baby product will be sold for. If the cost to make the product is higher than the baby product, select a new product and begin at Step 1 again.

-
3
Figure out how the product will be shipped. Use an insulated shipping method such as packing peanuts or a bubble wrap if the baby item is fragile. Consider the cost of various forms of shipping, both in the cost of the packaging and the actual price charged to ship. Charge shipping to the customer or build it into the price of each product.
-
4
Decide which forms of payment you will accept from the customers. In order to accept checks, you expose yourself to some risk. In order to accept credit cards, you will have to pay fees to the credit card companies. Set up an online money transfer service account in order to be able to accept both checks and major credit cards with minimal fees and hassles.
-
5
Advertise the baby product on various venues. Put a link to the product being sold in online parenting forum signatures. Create a website for the product. Create accounts and advertise the product on crafting websites and online auction sites.
-
6
Provide good customer service so that your customers will become repeat buyers. As profits come in, pay for the costs to keep the business in operation, invest a portion back into the business and earn profits.
