How to Get 6.0 on My Bold
The BlackBerry Bold originally shipped with BlackBerry operating system 5.0, but Research in Motion has released an update to upgrade the Bold to BlackBerry OS 6.0. BlackBerry 6.0 offers a faster browser, more social media options and a universal search bar at the top of the screen. If you have a stand alone BlackBerry Bold, you can download the upgrade yourself through your computer's Web browser and install it using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager application loader.

Disconnect your BlackBerry bold from your computer if the phone is plugged in.

Open the Web browser on the PC and go to the BlackBerry Software Updates website.

Click the "Check for Updates" button and select the option to save the file.

Open the file once it is finished downloading.

Click "Run" to install the update drivers. The BlackBerry Application Loader screen will launch.

Plug the USB data cable into the charging port on the Bold and click "Next." The application loader will apply the upgrade automatically.

Tips & Warnings
If your BlackBerry is a company phone connected to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you cannot upgrade the Bold on your own. Contact your IT department about installing the upgrade.
