How to Make the Cents Symbol on Facebook

In United States currency, the cents symbol denotes an amount of money less than one dollar. For example, 79 cents can also be written as 79¢. Although the standard United States keyboard has no key for the cents symbol, you can insert one in the text that you type on Facebook by typing a short code on your keyboard.

Instructions

    • 1

Type in a message or wall post on Facebook and place the cursor where you want the cents symbol to appear.

    • 2

Press and hold the left "Alt" key on your keyboard. If the keyboard has no number keys on the right side, also press and hold the "Fn" key.

    • 3

Type the string "155" using the numerical keypad on the right side of the keyboard. If you have no numerical keypad, use the keys with numerals marked in blue instead.

    • 4

Release the left "Alt" key. If applicable, release the "Fn" key as well. The cents symbol appears at the location of the cursor.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use these steps to type the cents symbol on any program or website that accepts ASCII input, such as most blogs and email services.
