How to Airbrush Your Face at Home
Airbrush makeup, once only found on Hollywood movie sets, is now available to the masses. At-home airbrush kits make it possible to apply your foundation and achieve a flawless, natural finish that lasts up to 24 hours. You can also use an airbrush system to apply sunless tanning solution to your face without the risk of streaks. For either purpose, airbrushing your face at home will provide the most even coverage possible, by spraying an ultra-fine mist that eliminates the need to blend with your fingertips or sponges. 1
Connect the hose and wand to the air compressor following the manufacturer's instructions. Individual brands may have unique steps, but in general you need to pour foundation mixed with a few drops of water into a reservoir or cup.
-
2
Secure your hair away from your face with the headband. Hold the wand no more than 10 inches from your face and mist on the foundation while continuously moving your hand in a circular motion. Keep your eyes closed as much as possible.

3
Allow the foundation to dry and apply a second coat if needed. If your skin is oily, you may want to apply a light finishing powder, otherwise powder is unnecessary.
Airbrush Tan

4
Pull your hair away from your face and secure with a headband. Wash and exfoliate your skin no less than one hour prior to application of the tanning solution.
-
5
Assemble your airbrush tanning system and load it with sunless tanning solution formulated for faces, according to the manufacturer's instructions. Hold the wand approximately 6 inches away from your face. Spray on the sunless tanning solution. Keep your eyes closed as much as possible. Move your hand constantly in a circular motion until all areas of your face are covered.
-
6
Wait at least 10 minutes for the solution to dry. Airbrush sunless tanners sometimes have a built-in temporary bronzer that immediately appears on your skin. It will take three to four hours for your tan to develop, so do not apply more solution until you give it adequate time to develop.
