How to Make a Rectangle Using Geometer's Sketchpad
Geometer's Sketchpad is a piece of educational software designed for teaching geometry in a classroom setting. While the Sketchpad software has the capability to be used not only for geometry, but for precalculus, calculus and algebra, you will need to learn the basics of the program first. A good place to start is learning how to draw a simple rectangle using the software.

1
Open Sketchpad. Open the "File" menu at the top of the screen and click "New Sketch." This will create a blank Sketchpad document.

3
Select the "Arrow" tool from the toolbar. Click the line segment and both of the endpoints to select them.
-
4
Open the "Construct" menu. Click "Perpendicular Lines." This will draw guide lines perpendicular to the line segment.

Select the "Segment" tool from the toolbar. Draw two line segments, each one going in the same direction and starting at one of the first segment's endpoints. These will form the sides of your rectangle. Use the guide lines to make sure that these new lines are perpendicular to the first line.

6
Connect the endpoints of the second and third line segments using the "Segment" tool. This will close your rectangle.
