How to Get Vulpix in Sapphire

In the "Pokemon" video games, Vulpix is a fox-like creature with six tails. As it matures, these tails increase in number. During battles, Vulpix can set its foes ablaze with attacks, such as Ember and Fire Spin. In addition, it can utilize status-impairing attacks, such as Confuse Ray, and support moves like Safeguard. In "Pokemon Sapphire," wild Vulpix gather near the summit of Mount Pyre, a memorial mountain for deceased Pokemon.

Instructions

    • 1

Travel to Lilycove City in eastern Hoenn.

    • 2

Walk west from the city to enter Route 121.

    • 3

Go to the dock in the middle of Route 121 and use the Surf ability to swim into the water.

    • 4

Swim south onto Route 122. The route contains Mount Pyre.

    • 5

Swim to the southern section of Route 122 to enter the building.

    • 6

Climb the six interior floors of Mount Pyre until you emerge outside near the summit of the mountain. The building contains numerous rival trainers with Pokemon around Level 30.

    • 7

Walk around the tall grass until you encounter a wild Vulpix. Vulpix has a 20 percent appearance rate. Expect any wild Pokemon in this area to be between Levels 25 and 29.

    • 8

Weaken Vulpix, but don't knock it out. Vulpix is weak to Water-, Ground- and Rock-type attacks.

    • 9

Throw a PokeBall to capture the wild Vulpix.

Tips & Warnings

  • Expose Vulpix to a Fire Stone. It will evolve into Ninetales, a more powerful Fire-type Pokemon.
