How to Make a Cheap Princess Wand
Sometimes getting creative can help you produce original items at a fraction of the price you might pay for ready-made trinkets. When your princess needs a wand, instead of buying her one that breaks the bank, use pretty embellishments you may already have to make a homemade wand. Make a cheap princess wand that looks anything but ordinary and she'll enjoy casting magical princess spells.
Things You'll Need
- Wooden dowel (3/8-inch diameter)
- Saw
- Medium-grit sandpaper
- Assorted ribbon (various colors and widths)
- Glue gun
- Tulle (1/2 yard)
- Scissors
- Embroidery floss

1
Cut the wooden dowel to make a 12-inch length for the wand. Sand the ends of the dowel with medium-grit sandpaper.
-
2
Glue the end of one of the ribbons to one end of the dowel. Wrap the ribbon tightly around the entire dowel until you get to the other end of the dowel. Glue the other end of the ribbon to the dowel to hold the ribbon snugly around the dowel, covering it completely.

3
Cut four to six lengths of ribbon ranging between 8 and 12 inches long. Glue the ends of the ribbon pieces to one end of the dowel. Set the dowel aside for a few moments.

4
Cut 20 rectangles, 5 inches by 3 inches, out of the tulle and stack them neatly. Cut a 6-inch length of embroidery floss and place it over the center of the stacked tulle, parallel to the short edges. Tie the floss in a tight double knot around the stacked tulle to gather it in the center. Cut off the excess embroidery floss and fluff out the edges of the tulle to make it into a round, fluffy ball.
-
5
Glue the end of the dowel with the ribbon lengths to the tulle ball, pushing the dowel in so it sits at the center of the tulle ball. Allow the glue to dry completely. The lengths of ribbon will extend out from the fluffy tulle ball to complete the wand.
