How to Start a Prayer Chain in Church
Prayer chains are a service provided by a network of people that offer quick and meaningful prayers. Anyone who wishes to have greater numbers of people pray for them, a loved one or for just about any kind of worthy cause can submit a request for prayers through a prayer chain. The service then provides the information to all those who wish to pray. There are many online prayer chain services, though chances are your local church has a prayer chain service already available. However, if you find your local church does not, any member of the congregation can ask to set one up.

Ask the church officials if there is a prayer chain service already in place. Many churches offer prayer services for the congregation and anyone can submit the names of those they wish prayed for regardless of the prayer recipient's religious beliefs.

Receive permission from the church officials to start the service. Once you have permission the church officials ask if an announcement can be made to the congregation beginning at the next scheduled services. Have the officials ask for prayer volunteers and give the contact information for those wishing to request prayer services and those willing to pray for others.

Hang an announcement on the church community bulletin board with the approval of church officials. Explain what the service is for and list the name of the individual or individuals in charge of facilitating the service and their contact information. Let people know they can request prayers for themselves and others, and they can also volunteer to pray for others.
