How to Make a Kippah Hat
A kippah is a traditional piece of Jewish head wear worn by men and boys. Also known as a skull cap or yarmulke in Yiddish, kippot can be made from a variety of materials, and the wearer can customize his kippah however he wishes. The simplest way to create your own kippah is to sew it together from fabric.

1
Measure for your kippah by wrapping a tape measure around the head of the wearer in the place that the kippah will end.
-
2
Cut two pieces of circular material. One piece for the outside of the kippah and one piece for the lining. These should account for the diameter of the wearer's head, with an extra 1/8 inch to allow for seams. Follow this by cutting the circular material into 4 equal sized triangles.

3
Sew two of the triangular pieces of fabric together, creating an 1/8-inch seam on one side. Repeat this procedure with the other two pieces of triangular fabric to leave you with two separate pieces of material that resemble semi-circles. Press these together.
-
4
Sew the two separate pieces of material together. Leave the same 1/8 inch for the seam. Press the seams.
-
5
Repeat Steps 2-4 to create the lining of the kippah.
-
6
Turn the kippah right side out and sew a piece of material around the edge to ensure it is bound together.
-
7
Decorate your kippah however you like.
