How to Get a Rod in "Pearl"
In the "Pokemon" games, fishing rods allow you to capture Water-type Pokemon that hide beneath the waves. There are three types of rods in "Pokemon Pearl," and each one allows you to hook different species of Pokemon. For example, with the Great Rod, you can capture Finneon, while the Super Rod gives you a chance to hook Lumineon, Finneon's evolved form. Fishermen throughout the game will give you a rod if you take the time to chat with them.

Old Rod

Travel to Jubilife City in southwest Sinnoh.

Walk west from the city to enter the Route 218 gate.

Talk to the fisherman inside the building to receive the Old Rod.
Good Rod

Travel to Hearthome City in central Sinnoh.

Walk through the city's eastern gate to arrive on Route 209.

Walk east to find a dock above a pond.

Talk to the fisherman on the docks. He will give you the Good Rod.
Super Rod

Travel to the Battle Zone island, which is northeast of the Sinnoh mainland. You may only access this area after you've completed the Elite Four challenge at the Sinnoh Pokemon League.

Walk north from the Fight Area village, which is the first village you'll arrive at on the island.

Talk to the fisherman standing near the gate to Route 225. He will give you the Super Rod.

Tips & Warnings
Along with the fishing rods, acquire Net Balls, which excel at capturing Water-type Pokemon. You can purchase Net Balls in Eterna City, Hearthome City and Solaceon Town.
