How to Crochet Booties for Adults
Crocheted booties often fit tiny baby toes. However, enlarging the simple pattern forms adult-sized booties. Adults can wear the booties as cozy slippers. Crocheting these booties is a simple process of forming and attaching loops. The simplest way to crochet adult booties is to crochet the proper shape and then stitch the edges together.

1
Pull the end of the yarn from each skein of yarn. Hold both strands together. Crochet with two strands throughout the project.
-
2
Make a slip knot close to the end of the yarns. Wrap the yarn on itself to form a loop. Push a second loop through the first. Pull the end of the second loop to tighten the first loop. Insert the crochet hook through the second loop, then tighten the second loop around the hook.

-
3
Grasp the yarn with the hook and pull it through the second loop. Chain 50 stitches in one long row.
-
4
Chain one more stitch, then turn the work. If your hook is on the right side of your row, after turning, it will be on the left.
-
5
Insert your crochet hook through the second stitch from the end. Grasp the yarn with the hook and pull it through the loop in the row, then through the chain. This is called a single crochet (SC.) Continue to SC the rest of the row. Chain a single stitch, then turn your work.
-
6
Repeat Step 5 for 10 more rows to complete a total of 12 rows. At the end of the twelfth row, tie off the yarn and cut the thread.
-
7
Make a second slip knot. Insert the crochet hook into the loop of the knot. Count 13 stitches from the end of the piece and slip the crochet hook into the fourteenth stitch. Crochet a single stitch through each stitch for the next 23 stitches, then crochet a single chain and turn your work. This leaves an additional 13 stitches on the other side.
-
8
Crochet the 23 stitch section for four more rows. Tie the yarn off and cut.
-
9
Fold the bootie in half, lengthwise. Thread a large needle with a single thread of yarn. Stitch the bootie closed along the bottom, around the front, over the top and up the cuff.
-
10
Repeat Steps 1 through 9 to make the second bootie.
