How to Install Textures Into "Second Life" Game

You can upload textures into "Second Life."

In "Second Life," you can create objects onto which you can place a texture of your choice. Textures are images you can upload into "Second Life" from your computers hard-drive. With a texture, you can cover the surface of a "Second Life" prim or you can use the texture as a picture. With a prim, you can create different objects, such as clothing, and with a picture, you can create posters, note cards and fliers.

Things You'll Need

• Picture
• Graphic editor software
• Linden dollars/"Second Life" currency

Instructions

1. Select a picture or image you want to upload into "Second Life." The picture or image will need to be saved as a TGA, BMP, JPG or JPEG file on your computer's hard-drive. If your computer dose not have graphics editor software, you can download software online. There are several programs you can download to your computer such as, Photoshop, GIMP and Filter Forge.

2. Log into "Second Life" through your "Second Life" viewer or third party viewer. When you have completely regenerated and you can see your avatar on scree,n check your tool bar to ensure you have Lindens on your account. The cost to upload a texture into "Second Life" is 10 Linden dollars (as of August 2011).

3. Click on the "File" tab on the menu bar to open a drop down box. Click on "Upload" from the drop-down box to open an additional drop-down box. Click on "Image" from the additional drop-down box to open your computer file browser. Your computer's file browser will open in "Second Life" on your computer screen.

4. Navigate to the texture picture saved on your computer's hard-drive and select it. Before you upload the texture into "Second Life" you will have the option to rename the texture. Click on the "Upload" button and the texture will begin to upload into "Second Life." You will see the texture on your screen and a pop up box informing you that you have paid 10L$ to upload. Click the "OK" button on the pop-up box to navigate away from the box.

5. Click on the "Inventory" button and your "Second Life" inventory will populate on screen. Navigate to your "Texture" folder and click on the texture you uploaded to begin using it.

• You can buy lindens for your "Second Life" account through PayPal, a credit card or a bank card with a credit card logo on it.
