Navigon's 2100 Global Positioning System provides navigation and thousands of points of interest, including restaurants and gas stations. Traffic information is available with the optional lifetime Traffic Message Channel, or TMC accessory service. The device will change your route if it detects traffic backups. Another optional service updates the POIs using Zagat ratings. The device provides spoken driving instructions. You can check the speaker function if you cannot hear the directions.

      Turn on the Navigon 2100 by holding the power button for six seconds. Allow the GPS to initialize and choose a destination from the "My destinations" tab in the main window. The Navigon will provide a list of the last 30 destinations that you navigated to. Allow a map to open.

      Tap the "Volume" button. It is the button with the loud speaker icon.

      Press the "Loud" or "Soft" buttons on the volume bar that will open. The "Loud" button is represented by a speaker icon with a graphical representation of a lot of noise emanating from it. The "Soft" button is a similar graphic, but with a smaller graphical representation of noise. Do not press the "Volume off" button, which is the button with the "X."

      Tap the "Volume" button again to close the volume bar. Listen for spoken directions. When you hear them, you know the speaker works. Check the volume buttons again if you don't and verify that you did not inadvertently press the "Volume off" button, which is the button with the "X."
