How to Change Spatial Resolution in ArcMap
ArcMap is the major component of the ArcGIS application. Maps in ArchMap are raster images that present the varying levels of detail, depending on the resolution used. In this case, resolution, in part, refers to the "cells" containing the bits of data. This means that with a high resolution, a single pixel in a raster image might represent several cells. To get more accurate and detailed maps, you might want to adjust the resolution.

Click on the "Contour" tab, and change the "Raster Resolution" to what you want. Keep in mind that higher resolution in this case mean less detail rather than more. This means that a resolution of 1 gives you the maximum detail possible.
