Troubleshooting a GE TFX24 Dispenser
The GE TFX24 refrigerator is a side-by-side unit with freezer door access to the ice and water supply. The dispenser provides cubed and crushed ice options as well as chilled water. If owners experience problems with the dispenser, it may be user error or it may be a problem with the dispenser itself. Either way, most issues with the dispenser can usually be resolved through some troubleshooting techniques. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Lower the ice maker power arm to turn the ice maker "On" if there is no ice dispensing from the unit. The ice maker must be turned on to produce enough ice to be dispensed.
-
2
Discard the first few batches of ice dispensed after installation, as the water may contain debris from the new water lines.
-
-
3
Wipe the spill shelf with a towel if water collects in the dispenser shelf if it starts to drip down and cause water to puddle on the floor. It does not self-drain.
-
4
Replace the light bulb in the dispenser with a new 7-watt appliance bulb if the current bulb burns out.
-
5
Flush the water system by holding a container under the dispenser and pressing "Water" for at least two minutes if there is no water coming out or it spurts. This releases the air in the system.
-
6
Wipe the selector switch with a clean, damp cloth if it sticks. Dispense ice before water to prevent splashing, which can cause the ice selector switch to stick.
-
7
Push any blocked ice cubes through the dispenser with a wooden spoon if a jam occurs.
-
8
Use fingertips to break up ice clumps in the ice maker if ice does not dispense or comes out in clumps. Adjust the freezer temperature to a lower setting and use the ice dispenser more regularly to help prevent ice blocks from forming.
-
9
Dispense the water for several minutes to replenish the current water supply if the water does not taste good.
