How to Extend the Power Cord on My TV
Televisions have either attached or removable power cords of a fixed length. This can pose a problem if you do not have an electrical outlet near the location where you want to place your television. You can, however, extend the power cord of your television by using an ordinary extension cord. You can also replace a removable power cord with a longer cord.

Measure the distance from your television to the electrical outlet where you want to connect your television to determine the minimum length power cord you will need.

Purchase a new 16-gauge power cord for your television if it has a removable power cord. Televisions with removable cords use the same type of power cord as desktop computers and monitors.
