How to Delay a Master Hearing for Removal
A master hearing for removal is the legal proceeding held before an immigration judge to decide whether an immigrant to the U.S. will be deported. You must have been notified of the impending removal hearing by a Notice to Appear (NOA) informing you of your legal rights and responsibilities at least 10 days before the hearing date. If you have received an NOA, the only means of getting the removal proceedings delayed (as opposed to cancelled outright) is by applying for "Temporary Protected Status" (TPS).

1
Travel to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website and select the link for "Temporary Protected Status" under the "Humanitarian" section. If you can't find it that way, you can use the search bar on the USCIS homepage to find it. Scroll down to see the list of "Countries that are Currently Designated for TPS." If the country of your nationality is on the list and you have been a continuous resident of the U.S. since the date listed for your country, you are eligible to apply for TPS.

Combine your I-765 and I-821 forms with two passport-style photos, as well as $50, $85, and $350 for the I-821, biometrics testing, and I-765 filing fees. If you cannot pay these fees, go to the "Forms" page and download the I-912 "Request for Fee Waiver" form to be filled out and included with your application. In addition, you must include documents proving your identity and your nationality in the country included under the list of countries granted TPS, documents proving the date of your legal entry to the U.S. and documents proving your lawful residence in the U.S.
