How to Remove Stains From Glass Cooktops on the Oven
Many flat top electric stoves have cooktops made of glass. Cleaning and removing stains from these glass cooktops requires extreme care. The use of certain products can cause scratching and pitting on the surface of the glass cooktop, leaving it dull and susceptible to cracking. Things You'll Need
- Glass cooktop cleaner
- Non-abrasive cleaning pad
- Cleaning eraser
- Water
- Paper towels
- Glass cleaner

Give your glass cooktop time to cool off, even if you spilled something on the cooktop. Your electric stove should have a light that shuts off to indicate that the range has completely cooled.

Dampen a soft cloth and place a drop of a cleaning cream designed for use on glass cooktops on it. Wipe down the stovetop.

Scrub away any stuck-on foods or stains with a non-abrasive cleaning pad. Never use a scouring or steel wool pad to clean the glass cooktop. They will scratch the surface.

Wipe away any remaining stains with a cleaning eraser product. This may require a little bit of scrubbing.

Rinse the area with a wet paper towel and then a paper towel that has been sprayed with a glass cleaner. This will restore your glass cooktop's shine.

You also should wipe your glass cooktop on a regular basis with a soapy dish rag to keep it clean.
Never slide your pots and pans across the glass cooktop. They will leave metal marks behind that may be difficult to remove.
