How to Make a Preschool Fishing Pole for Camping
Camping is all about getting out into the great outdoors and experiencing those things that just can't be done in the city. Children get a massive kick out of these experiences and even very young kids will enjoy taking part in outdoors activities. Fishing is a great activity for kids to take part in but there is no need to splash out on fishing equipment for them. Make a simple, easy to use fishing pole yourself.

1
Position the reel of string a few inches from the end of the bamboo cane. Place a screw through the hole in the middle and screw in place. Be sure the point of the screw does not protrude from the other side.
-
2
Screw three eyelets into the cane at equal distances apart with one in the far end of the cane. Put them all at 90-degrees from the reel. Again make sure no points protrude.

3
Run the string from the reel through the eyelets. Pull it all the way out and tie a knot in the string above the last eyelet so the string cannot be pulled back through the eyelets.
-
4
Tie a hook onto the end of the string. Be sure it is not sharp -- blunt the piece if it is. Wrap the handle of the pole in duct tape to prevent splinters.

Supervise young children with these kind of toys at all times. Make sure he does not put the hook anywhere near his eyes or mouth. Help him with hooking and unhooking bait.
